Admissions
& Records
For the various parties who, from time to time, require an account of our work — colleges, scholarship committees, dual-enrollment offices, and the State of Florida.
Currently at capacity.
The Academy enrolls only the children of the founding family. We are not currently accepting outside applications — though we are happy to correspond with classical Christian and home-educating families, share curriculum notes, and discuss the trade.
Florida Compliance
We comply with the statute in good faith and good order. The portfolio is maintained continuously and is available for inspection upon proper request.
Maxey Academy is registered as a home education program with the Pinellas County School District in accordance with Florida Statute § 1002.41. We maintain all required records and submit annual educational evaluations within the statutory window.

Records & Transcripts
We produce formal academic records for the purposes of dual enrollment, scholarship application, and (eventually) college admission. Records are issued on Academy letterhead, signed and dated by the Head of School, and accompanied by a school profile, course descriptions, and a grading rubric.
Official Transcript
Courses, credit hours, narrative descriptions, and final marks. Issued on Academy letterhead with seal.
School Profile
A standard institutional document describing the curriculum, philosophy, grading scale, and graduation requirements.
Course Descriptions
Detailed syllabi for each year-long course, including primary texts, learning objectives, and methods of assessment.
Standardized Test Scores
Forwarded directly from the testing institution as needed. The Academy administers the Iowa Test of Basic Skills annually.
Letters of Recommendation
Issued by the Head of School and Dean of Letters; supplemented as appropriate by visiting instructors and tutors.
Requests should be directed to office@maxeyacademy.com. Please allow up to ten business days for processing. There is no fee.
Grading Scale
Marks are assigned at the end of each term following a portfolio review and an oral examination. A failing mark requires the student to repeat the term's work, which has never occurred.
| Letter | Range | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| A | 93–100 | Excellent. The work meets every objective and exceeds several. |
| A− | 90–92 | Excellent, with minor unevenness. |
| B+ | 87–89 | Strong. The work meets all objectives. |
| B | 83–86 | Solid. The work meets most objectives. |
| B− | 80–82 | Adequate. The work meets the majority of objectives. |
| C | 70–79 | Marginal. Further work is undertaken. |
| F | Below 70 | Insufficient. The term's work is repeated. |
If you're considering this yourself —
We are glad to talk. We have made every common mistake and a few uncommon ones, and we are happy to spare you several of them. There is no shortage of room in the world for a serious homeschool, conducted seriously.
